The Criminal Justice Legal Foundation is classified by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) charitable and educational foundation. Contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. The Foundation welcomes contributions by check, credit card, and encourages gifts of stock and bequests.

To make a contribution by CHECK, please print out and complete our contribution card and mail it along with your check to:

To make a contribution with your CREDIT CARD, please telephone (916) 446-0345 and ask for Josette or Wendy. They will take your credit card information, including your name as it appears on the card, the card type and number, the expiration date, the address where you receive your credit card billing statement.

Your next billing statement will identify your contribution, and we will mail you a letter confirming your gift which will serve as a receipt for tax deduction purposes.

You may also make a CREDIT CARD CONTRIBUTION FROM THIS WEBSITE, through Pay Pal, a certified secure service for credit card transactions. You do not have to be a Pay Pal member to make your contribution. To use Pay Pal, just click on the credit card button below and fill out the requested information. We will send you a letter confirming your gift which will serve as a receipt for tax deduction purposes.

GIFTS OF STOCK are fully tax-deductible and offer an additional advantage. While appreciated stock which is sold by the owner is subject to a substantial capital gains tax, this tax is avoided if it is donated. You may deduct the full fair market value of your donated stock on your income tax return.

To give stock to CJLF:

1. Tell your broker the name of the stock and the number of shares you wish to donate.

2. Have your broker telephone the Foundation at (916) 446-0345. Ask for Josette. She will take the information necessary to assure you receive full credit for the gift and advise your broker on how to transfer the stock to the Foundation's broker.

A BEQUEST in your will to the Criminal Justice Legal Foundation is completely free of estate tax, which can be substantial. Regardless of the amount, bequests help to assure that the Foundation continues its scholarly work to protect the rights of crime victims and law-abiding society for generations to come.
